Not much is known about the 50A Receiver. This unit was probably less expensive than the 50B in that the band coils were plugged in from the front panel. The dial unit was an off-the-shelf component rather than one built in-house.
The 50 series receivers employed a variable capacitor in the oscillator circuit rather than the permeability-tuned version.
